Getting the best from WordPress

wp logoBuilding websites just keeps getting better! If you want to start making some extra cash online, then you’ll need to get a website!

In the dark distant days (actually, only a few years ago!) using HTML was pretty well the best option- it enabled experts to knock up very good-looking websites, but compared to today, under the bonnet, it was very much a mechanics’ vehicle, full of impenetrable code and arcane commands. It’s still in use and continues to be popular with experts.

But the world changed when WordPress was launched in 2003. Designed by two techies whose favourite blogging software was discontinued, it went on, aided by enthusiasts, developers and general happy users, to dominate the internet application market.

With more than 30% of the internet powered by WordPress, and a library in excess of 55,000 plugins, it shows no sign of slowing down.

I recommend that you take a bit of time getting to understand just how powerful it can be, and what it can deliver. But, like all “solutions” there can be maddening moments. I can’t tell you how many times I have almost finished a page- pressed the save button, only to find a rogue broken line of text, or a misplaced image. It’s challenges like this that can be both frustrating and satisfying. I picked up a lot of useful info from a cheap teaching package which overs not only the beginners stuff, but more advanced features too. Also, read the piece on List HERE
